Why Locks?
I am sure you are wondering why we chose the name Cars and Locks. Well to be honest it came about when i was thinking of a different business model. One in which I was a mobile tech. By 2022 I had decided that working at the dealer was no longer for me and wanted to go out on my own, and a key making interest was beginning to kindle in me. I had been exposed to some key programming at the Subaru dealer that I worked at. There were often times when customers would lose all of their keys and depending on the vehicle type we would need to send off a couple of modules to have them reset so that they could accept new keys. This was an expensive and time consuming ordeal and I learned that with some aftermarket tools you could effectively bypass the need to send these modules off. I had also seen first hand an issue where certain codes would get burned into the engine control module and once again we would be unable to reset these with the oem Subaru tool and there was an aftermarket alternative way to reset these codes and bypass an expensive repair. This excited me, I enjoy making molehills out of mountains, and finding simpler ways to do things. Especially when the issue just seems to be red tape and either poorly thought through design, profit motivation from the big players or just an arbitrarily repeated outdated company policy.
So I embarked on a journey to learn the ways of the key makers. I went to the last year of Just Cars in Arizona, attended a training course through IML security and I was all set! (jk I am still learning to this day). I put in my two weeks notice, loaded up the van and put up my google business page. Well turns out an opportunity appeared only 2 months into this mobile business and I was able to rent a building. Since then I have learned the ways of the lishi, eeprom work, and many european vehicle keys. So far my trusty cutter and I haven’t missed a beat. Except when it sometimes shears the blade off on a mobile call. Luckily I have had spares. I have since moved to a closer to my home location and continue to eagerly look forward to continuing to serve my amazing customers. So whether you need some brakes or a key, give me a ring.
